Hiring Policy
Mandatory Requirements:
1) Resident of the municipality or neighboring municipality
2) Valid Driver License Class G or Higher
3) Insurable under Municipalities Fleet Operator Policy
4) Medical Fitness Certificate
5) Fluent in English
6) No Criminal Record for which a pardon has not been granted
7) Employer waiver allowing attendance during working hours
8) 18 Years of Age or Older
Desired Skills Inventory
1) Class DZ or higher
2) First Aid
3) CPR
4) Previous Experience
5) Bilingual
6) Related Training (ie. Whmis, O.H.S.C.)
7) Related Experiences (ie. Nursing, Building Const. Auto Mech.)
8) Demonstrated Community Commitment
Each candidate who meets the minimum requirement will be invited to attend a Township of Tiny Fire Department Recruiting Day that will include a written aptitude test, a physical fitness test, and a personal interview.
Each candidate shall be rated and scored on the following criteria:
1. Résumé and References;
2. Written aptitude test;
3. Physical fitness test; and
4. Interview.
A list shall be compiled with the candidate scoring the highest marks from the aforementioned criteria being placed at the top and subsequent candidates placed thereafter in descending order of score. Candidates shall be placed in order of scoring regardless of which station they are to be affiliated with.
This hiring list shall remain current for a minimum period of 1 year and may be extended at the discretion of the Fire Chief. Candidates may be bypassed on the hiring list in order to fill vacancies at particular stations. After the list is compiled it is the responsibility of each candidate to contact the Fire Department Secretary if hiring information requires updating (i.e. candidate moves to another area of the Township and your original station affiliation changes).
