Water Upgrading Projects
Georgian Sands Mains Replacement
Starting in late 2009, sections of the Georgian Sands water system underwent a major project to replace older, brittle 50 mm mains with new 150 mm mains.
Additional fire hydrants were added to the system to provide better fire protection to residents. If your home is close to the newly installed hydrants, you may wish to contact your homeowner insurance provider to determine if you are eligible for reduced rates.
This 3.3 million dollar project was funded by the Building Canada Fund. Under this agreement, 1/3 of the costs are paid by the Federal Government, 1/3 of the costs are paid by the Provincial Government and 1/3 of the costs are paid by the Township using existing capital water funds.
