Accessibility Plan

On December 14, 2001, the Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2001 (ODA) was passed by the Province of Ontario to improve access and opportunities for people with disabilities and to provide for their involvement in the identification, removal and prevention of barriers.  The ODA mandates that each municipality prepare an annual accessibility plan.  

The accessibility plan is intended to address existing barriers to people with disabilities and to prevent new barriers from being established.   The Township's plan outlines accomplishments and initiatives to date as well as barriers to be addressed in the upcoming year.  The process also includes the review of by-laws, policies, procedures and programs.

Accessibility Advisory Committee

The Township's Accessibility Advisory Committee was formed on March 9, 2009.  The Committee's mandate is to advise Council in the promotion of equal opportunity for all persons regardless of needs, as well as to enable all persons to participate as fully as possible in all aspects of community life.  The Committee will conduct research, prepare reports and provide recommendations for Council's review on various matters respecting the issues of person with disabilities.

Customer Service Policy

The Municipality is pleased to provide a copy of its Customer Service Policy as mandated under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA).

The Accessibility Standards for Customer Service O.Reg. 429/07 requires a Municipality to adopt and maintain a policy, procedures and practices governing the provision of its goods and services to persons with disabilities.  The Township's policy outlines the following:

        • Notice of Temporary Disruptions
        • Training Requirements
        • Feedback Process
        • Notice of Availability of Documents

Accessibility and Upcoming Municipal Election
