Committee Mandate:
To research, obtain information on and promote the Township of Tiny's historical and cultural heritage.
Research and Preserve the History of Tiny
- Memory Box(es) - a categorized collection of records, photos, articles, etc.,relevant to Tiny's past.
- Photo Preservation - a system for scanning old albums and preserving on computer disk the images and details of appropriate photos.
- Historical Sites of Interest - a new initiative to identify sites and landmarks, such as historical buildings, cemeteries, places, bridges, old homesteads
Promote Tiny and its Interesting History
The Committee was instrumental in working with the French Community to coordinate the unveiling of a Provincial Plaque to recognize the Francophone presence in the Township.
The Committee has encouraged involvement in history through the nomination of individuals for Provincial recognition for their efforts to promote local history.
The Committee is working toward designating a railway bridge in the township as a historical structure. This bridge is the only bridge that crosses over a township road and is part of the Rail Trail.
Support to Council as Requested
The Committee investigates and reports to Council on matters of historical significance (for example - The Champlain Cross)
