(Tiny, Ontario) The Township of Tiny is celebrating National Volunteer Week. In the spirit of celebration, we will be highlighting a handful of our volunteers and their favourite volunteering moments over the course of National Volunteer Week on our social media channels.
The theme for this year’s National Volunteer Week is “Every Moment Matters”. Volunteer Canada set this theme to highlight the importance of all volunteers and each contribution they make that helps to strengthen inclusivity and wellbeing in our communities.
In 2023, the Township of Tiny had 120 volunteers registered, that logged 6,089 hours. So far in 2024, we have over 150 volunteers registered.
There are several volunteer opportunities available with the Township of Tiny that cater to a variety of interests such as:
- Environmental Services: Boardwalk and Beach Conversation, Dog Park Monitor, Gardener, Invasive Species Removal, Litter Pick-Up, and Trail Monitor
- Recreation Programs: Pickleball Attendant, Shuffleboard Attendant, Soccer Coach, and Tennis Attendant
- Special Events: Community BBQ, Mayor’s Charity Golf Tournament, Senior Symposium, Tree Lighting, Winter Carnaval d’Hiver, and Wyevale Santa Claus Parade Party
- Youth and Senior Services: Counselor in Training, Senior Column Writer, and Technology Workshop Attendant
“We are excited to celebrate all our volunteers,” said Mayor David Evans. “Whether it is time spent as an attendant for a sports program, skills they share about conservation, or contributing to the success of our special events, we are grateful to have each and every volunteer and appreciate how much they give back to our community”.
