This workshop features Travis MacIver, the Experience Development Coordinator for Tourism Simcoe County, Cycle Simcoe, who will discuss cycling and e-bikes on local trails, and Renee Scruton, a physiotherapist from Chigamik Community Health Centre, sharing insights on senior health and mobility. Additionally, we have a lineup of fitness providers, including Dino Pangrazzi (Yoga), Colin Eccles (Aging Backwards), Debbie Ferris-Giammattolla (VON Smart), and Helen Veninger (Drumming), ready to guide you on various aspects of senior fitness and well-being.

Location: Township of Tiny Council Chambers (130 Balm Beach Road West, Tiny)Explore the critical connection between food costs, food insecurity, and nutrition in our informative session. During the first part of the presentation, we'll provide an overview of why and how the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) monitors food affordability in our region and its relation to household food insecurity. Our presenters will describe food insecurity, its associated health impacts, and actions to reduce the issue. In the second part, we'll focus on healthy eating and food budgeting basics for seniors, offering tips on finding a Registered Dietitian for personalized health-related questions. Join us to gain insights and tools for maintaining your nutritional well-being while managing food costs.
Lesley McMullin is a Public Health Dietitian with eight years of experience at the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, where she's actively involved with the Ontario Dietitians in Public Health, focusing on addressing food insecurity and promoting healthy eating through policy development. Mary Brodeur, a Public Health Nurse at the same unit, previously worked as a Registered Nurse in various roles, including management and Long-Term Care, before joining the Chronic Disease Prevention program.
