• Increased Water Usage Notice

  Data is being collected to manage, use and assist residents who may have higher bills related to excessive use, and leaks in residential fixtures such as dripping taps or running toilets. We will be able to assist residents in helping identify these types of water excess usages. If during meter reads, the Township notices unusually high-water consumption, the Township will make an attempt to notify the resident.

  Township of Tiny’s Responsibility

  • Service (Curb) Box: Protects the curb stop valve and should be secured and level with the ground. Never touch or cover it.
  • Curb Stop Valve: Located underground, this valve controls the flow of water from the water main to your property.
  • Water Mains: Underground pipes that carry water to water service lines.
  • Service Connection: The part of the pipe that runs from the water main to the curb stop valve in front of your property.
  • Water Meter: Records the volume of water you use.

  Property Owner's Responsibility

  • Water Service Line: Pipe that runs between the curb stop valve and your property.
  • Indoor Water Shut-off Valve: Shuts off the water supply to your property.
  • Indoor Plumbing: The system of pipes, drains, fittings, valves and fixtures in your home that distribute water.

  Property owners must always provide clear access to their water meter. 

• Water Meter Leaking

  This "leaking" or “sweating” is actually condensation building up on the outside of your pipes. Pipe condensation occurs when the air around your pipes is significantly warmer than the water running through them.

  How to prevent condensation on cold water pipes

  • Insulate the pipes: Insulation acts as a barrier, preventing warm, humid air from making contact with the cooler surface of the pipes, thereby eliminating the primary cause of condensation.
  • Improve ventilation: “Install exhaust fans or promote natural airflow,” says Bux. “This helps disperse humid air and prevent moisture build-up, reducing the chance of condensation.”
  • Reduce humidity: Deploy dehumidifiers in problem areas. Bux maintains that keeping indoor humidity levels below 60% significantly reduces the likelihood of condensation forming on pipes.
