Step 1 – Waitlist Application for a Short-Term Rental Licence
2025 Short-Term Rental Licence Applications are being accepted until a total of 300 Applications have been received. Once 300 Licence Applications have been received, the application process will be closed until the number of Licences issued falls below the 300 limit set out in By-law 22-017, as amended.
As the Township of Tiny approaches the 300 Licence limit, a waitlist has been implemented to determine the priority in which new applications will be received. Please review this entire webpage and Licensing By-law 22-017, as amended, before applying.
a. Complete the required information on the Application Form:
- Property Owners(s) full name;
- Address of property in The Township of Tiny;
- Telephone number;
- Email address;
- Pay the $150 annual fee to secure your position (Note: The waitlist will be free until 300 licences have been issued, once 300 Licences have been received an annual payment fee of $150 will be payable).
b. Once you have completed the above and secured your position you will receive an automated email confirmation including a file reference number;
c. If a Licence becomes available, you will be contacted by the Township of Tiny Licensing Officer and provided fifteen (15) calendar days to file a completed Application (see Step 2 below). Failure to file the Application within this time will result in your name being removed from the list and the next applicant contacted.
TEMPORARY NOTE: Waitlist Applicants that are offered the “free” fee will be promoted to Apply for a Short-Term Rental Licence very soon, therefore you should prepare the documents outlined in Step 2 for submission.

Step 2 -Preparing for your Application
a. Please review By-law 22-017 in advance of applying.
b. Print off and complete the following required documents for applying.
c. Documents must be ready to be uploaded as a PDF when you complete Step 2 of the application process.
- Name and Contact Information for the property owner(s) and Responsible Person as defined in section 2.26 & 6.1. j.)
- Proof of Ownership (Tax Notice or Proof of Title)
- Site Diagram (example) - Please note, that this drawing can be prepared by the owner/applicant.
- Floor Plan (example) - Please note, that this drawing can be prepared by the owner/applicant.
- Attestation Form
- Residential Owner Affidavit
- Corporate Owner Affidavit (if applicable)
- Certificate of Insurance
- Licensee Code of Conduct & Acknowledgment Schedule "B"
- Have a Credit Card ready for the non-refundable Application Fee of $1,750.00. (Plus applicable service fees). NOTE - Any dispute of payment with the credit card company will result in the application fee being charged to the property tax account plus returned payment fee and administration charges of per the Municipal Act section 398 (1) and (2) and the Township Fee by-law that is in place at the time of the dispute being filed.
Step 3 -Application for your Licence
Please click the below link to complete the online application form and upload the documents outlined in Step 2. At the end of this process you will be required to pay the non-refundable Application Fee of $1,750.00. (Plus applicable service fees).

Step 4 -Additional Supplemental Documents
Once Step 3 has been completed, you are now in the process to be considered for a licence. However, additional supplemental documents are required to support your application. Applicants are required to obtain and provide the following additional information:
- Electrical Inspection Report
Please contact a Licensed Electrical Contracting (LEC) business to perform an Electrical System Safety Assessment. An Electrical System Safety Assessment is a review of your home's electrical wiring and/or devices to identify potential electrical hazards that could lead to a fire and/or shock. The report required is to be dated less than 5 years old. Please upload the completed inspection report when completed. More details - HVAC Inspection Report (if applicable)
Please contact an HVAC Technician to perform and assessment of your HVAC system to identify any concerns. Please upload the completed inspection report when completed. - WETT Report (if applicable)
A Wood Energy Technical Transfer report dated less than 5 years old, issued by a certified WETT inspector is required. Please visit www.wettinc.ca and Search for a WETT Professional. Please upload the completed inspection report when completed. - Annual inspection report of chimney, flue pipes etc. (if applicable)
Please contact a WETT certified inspector to complete a yearly inspection of the chimney, flue pipes etc. and conduct a chimney sweep to ensure they are safe to be utilized. Please upload the completed inspection report when completed.
Step 5 -Application Review
Licensing, Fire and Building Department staff will be reviewing the information submitted, to confirm compliance. Should the application be missing information or not conforming to a regulation or by-law, the applicant will be advised of the required amendments or additions required. Applicants will be given the opportunity to update the application or provide any missing documentation.
Step 6 -Township Inspections
Once Step 4 of the application has been completed, the applicant will be advised to contact the Fire Department for the onsite inspection. The following Guide has been prepared to assist property owners in preparing for the inspection:

Step 7 -Approval
Should all inspections result in compliance, and all requirements be met, the Licensing Officer will provide Approval in writing and a licence will be issued until December 31, 2025. Once the licence is issued, the Licensee will be responsible for the maintenance of Monthly Fire Extinguisher Inspections, Maintenance Records and Tests for all Smoke and CO Alarms, the Guest Register and the Renters Code of Conduct.
