EP Week is May 1 to 7, 2022
(Tiny, Ontario) Emergency Preparedness Week is May 1 to 7, 2022, and encourages our Township and surrounding communities to take concrete actions to be better prepared to protect ourselves and our families during emergencies. This special week is a national effort of provincial and territorial emergency management organizations, and Public Safety Canada.
Natural disasters may be beyond our control, but there are ways to reduce the risk and the impact of whatever emergency we might face - whether natural or human-induced.
By taking a few simple steps, you can become better prepared to face a range of emergencies – anytime, anywhere. It is important to:
- Make a plan – In an emergency, your family may not be together, or you may be asked to evacuate your home. Thinking about what you would do in different situations and preparing a plan with every member of your family is the first step to being prepared. - Prepare an emergency kit – During an emergency, we will all need some basic supplies. We may need to get by without power or tap water. Be prepared to be self-sufficient for at least 72 hours in an emergency. Assemble your Basic emergency kit with the following checklist by visiting Get Prepared.
- Stay informed - During an emergency, you should stay tuned to local news channels. Look for official information from the County of Simcoe and Township of Tiny’s social media accounts Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Receive alerts about emergencies and other important community news by signing up for Tiny Connect. You choose what categories of notifications you want to receive and how you want to receive them.
“During Emergency Preparedness Week, I encourage you to take concrete actions to be better prepared,” said Denis Maurice, Division Chief of Fire Prevention. “As a community let’s all do our part to be prepared in the event of an emergency.
