(Tiny, Ontario) The Township of Tiny’s Municipal Law Enforcement Department is reminding existing Short-Term Rental property owners to renew their licence for 2025.
Short-Term Rental By-law 22-017, as amended, allows up to 300 short-term rental licences to be issued annually. Only approved licences can initiate the renewal application process. All licences expire annually on December 31, and need to be renewed and approved to operate the following calendar year.
The 2025 licence fee of $1750 helps with cost recovery of the staff time spent on inspections, administration, and enforcement for the licensing program.
“Tiny’s short-term-rental program enables property owners to rent out their homes and cottages, while ensuring there are safety protections in place for renters through the inspection and administration process,” said Mayor David Evans. “The licensing fee goes toward a cost recovery model that covers the administration and enforcement of this program.”
If you have never had a licence before, please visit www.tiny.ca/STR to understand what is required and how to start the process. It is against the law to operate a short-term rental prior to obtaining a licence from the municipality.
Renewal licence applications are now open. For more information or to apply online, visit the township’s website at www.tiny.ca/STR.
