Budget Summary
The Township of Tiny Council approved the 2026 Budget at its Regular Meeting on January 7, 2026, resulting in a 3.99 per cent blended tax rate increase, which reflects the combined municipal, County of Simcoe, and provincial education portions collected on the municipal tax bill. For the average residential property assessed at $350,000, this translates to an increase of approximately $7.11 per month on the municipal portion of the tax bill.
Following 2025 year-end surplus calculations, the budget may be further reduced in the spring leading to a lower final tax rate increase for 2026.
“During budget discussions Council was faced with challenging decisions to keep property tax increases low, while investing in our community,” said Mayor David Evans. “This year, we were able to budget for several substantial infrastructure projects guided from our Asset Management Plan as well as several new initiatives including a new Toanche pavilion and rink, as well as many other programs and services our residents enjoy. Our 2026 budget confirms that we are committed to supporting our residents and ensuring Tiny’s tax rate remains one of the lowest in the County of Simcoe.”
2026 Budget Highlights:
Developed in alignment with Council’s strategic priorities and grounded in the Asset Management Plan to maintain existing service levels, the 2026 budget totals $53.3 million gross, with $22.5 million supported by the tax levy, and includes several key investments such as:
- $4.0m investment into 15.9km of road paving and preservation projects
- $6.0m investment into the replacement of the Lafontaine Watermain pending the success of a $4.5m Provincial Health and Safety grant (the net project cost is funded by the Water rate payers)
- $1.45m for the construction of the new Toanche pavilion/rink which will include refrigeration lines roughed in, hockey boards and renovation of the current changeroom/storage structure; and
- $1.85m for various pieces of major fleet and vehicles
Additional major investments include:
- $460k for the continuation of the water meter program in Lafontaine
- $130k in lighting improvements for Wyevale Park Ball Diamond
- $683k investment in Fire related equipment and reserves
- Continuation of the Boardwalk improvements for beach access including replacements at
Lafontaine Beach Park and the stairs at Kitching Lane; and - The continuation of the construction of the new Township of Tiny Administrative Centre (TTAC).
