Event type

Blacksmithing is a timeless craft that involves shaping metal using tools like hammers, anvils, and tongs, and heating it in a forge. If you have a passion for hands-on work, creativity, and traditional skills, join us for an immersive one-day Historic Blacksmithing Workshop at Discovery Harbour, set along the scenic shores of Penetanguishene Bay (Georgian Bay).

This workshop is ideal for anyone curious about heritage trades, hobbyists eager to learn a new skill, or those simply looking for a unique and rewarding hands-on experience. No prior blacksmithing experience is needed—just a willingness to learn and get your hands dirty.

Learn historic blacksmith techniques under the guidance of an experienced instructor in a small group setting.

Included in the workshop:

  • tour of the historic site emphasizing historic trades
  • a tour of the H.M.S. Tecumseth Centre
  • safety briefing
  • hands on instruction including blacksmithing techniques
  • finalizing your take-home metalworks project
