(Tiny, Ontario) The Township of Tiny is thrilled to announce its celebration of Pollinator Week from June 19th to 25th. As a designated Bee City, we’re proud to be part of the pollinator movement and have committed to bringing awareness to pollinators throughout the year, especially on this important week.

Throughout Pollinator Week, the Township will host a range of activities and initiatives designed to engage the community in pollinator conservation efforts. We encourage residents of all ages to participate in the educational workshops, presentations, and hands-on experiences we’ve put together to learn about the significance of pollinators and discover ways to create pollinator-friendly habitats. Check out the schedule of events below.

All week, we're giving out pollinator seed packets to help our community attract pollinators! Pick up your free seed packets at the Township Municipal Office (130 Balm Beach Road West, Tiny).

"As a designated Bee City, the Township of Tiny is dedicated to fostering a sustainable environment for pollinators," said Mayor David Evans. "Pollinator Week provides a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together, learn, and take action in protecting these vital creatures. By supporting pollinators, we are not only conserving biodiversity but also ensuring a sustainable future for ourselves and future generations."

Pollinators are any insect or animal that moves pollen to a plant, allowing for fertilization. To benefit pollinators, in 2016, the Township of Tiny planted 8 meadows in 6 different public green spaces for a total of 2018 m2 of new pollinator habitat. Those meadows replaced mowed grass areas and continue to provide a range of flowers and foliage throughout the Spring, Summer, and Fall seasons.
