The Township is actively responding to the current spring thaw/runoff weather and the increased rainfall affecting our community. Our Public Works crews are working diligently to ensure the municipal drainage network operates at its highest possible capacity during this period of intense precipitation.

In recent weeks, the Township has been focused to prepare for spring thaw and improve drainage around our local roads. Tiny’s rural drainage networks are designed to manage municipal stormwater only (roads) and cannot accommodate additional runoff from private properties. To help protect homes, roads, and public infrastructure, we are asking all residents to support these efforts by following the guidelines below.

How Residents Can Help

  • Keep culverts clear: Please ensure driveway and roadside culverts on or near your property are free of debris, leaves, ice, or other blockages.
  • Do not pump water into the road or storm system: Sump pumps and other private drainage must not be discharged into the road or municipal storm network.
  • Do not alter drainage patterns: Rerouting or modifying natural or established drainage channels can worsen flooding for you and your neighbours.
  • Avoid approaching crews during operations: For everyone’s safety, please do not approach staff while they are working to relieve flooding or manage stormwater. Crews will respond to locations as they are dispatched or as conditions require. Crews have been directed to leave areas where residents are approaching and/or demonstrating aggressive and abusive behaviour.

Our team is committed to managing this spring thaw/runoff as effectively and safely as possible. Your cooperation helps protect the entire community and allows our crews to work efficiently under challenging conditions.

As a result of this activity Public Works staff will be unable to address pothole filling to meet the Minimum Maintenance Standard. Please exercise caution.

Thank you for your patience and support.
