TAKE NOTICE THAT a Special Meeting of the Heritage Advisory Committee (HAC) will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers.
Section 27 of the Ontario Heritage Act requires municipalities to keep a publicly accessible Municipal Heritage Register which lists properties of cultural heritage value or interest. The Township of Tiny’s Municipal Heritage Register contains two classifications of properties: ‘Listed’ and ‘Designated’.
Due to changes in provincial legislation, the township must either designate or remove properties from the Heritage Register by January 2027. The Township of Tiny is working with MHBC Planning to evaluate the cultural heritage significance of each ‘Listed’ property on the registry and reports have been produced that provide MHBC’s recommendations on which properties should be removed or designated on the Heritage Register.
The purpose of the Special Meeting is to provide further information regarding what it means to be Designated, the Designation process, and address any questions or concerns you may have. We are also pleased to welcome Nancy Matthews of Community Heritage Ontario to the meeting, who will provide a presentation and will be available to answer questions. No decisions will be made at the Special Meeting. Any recommended changes to the Heritage Register would be considered by Council at a future date.
To participate in this special meeting you can:
