(Tiny, Ontario) The Township of Tiny’s Accessibility and Senior Advisory Committees are pleased to present the 2022 Accessibility and Senior Symposium. Join us on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Township of Tiny Community Centre (91 Concession Rd 8 East).
Enjoy lunch, hear the annual update on Tiny’s Local Aging Plan, be part of the presentation of the 2021 Senior of The Year Award, and receive information from Independent Living Services in Simcoe County on “Home for a Lifetime - Blueprint for Safely Aging in Place”.
This year’s theme is Celebration – an occasion to celebrate all that seniors and older adults have achieved throughout life and for all that, they continue to accomplish.
The Township is also recognizing National AccessAbility Week. Every year, starting on the last Sunday in May, Canadians celebrate National AccessAbility Week (NAAW). Founded as ‘National Access Awareness Week’ in 1988, this week is an opportunity to celebrate the valuable contributions of Canadians with disabilities and raise awareness of the critical need for accessibility and inclusion for all in our community and workplace.
“We are very honoured to be collaborating with the Accessibility Advisory Committee for this year’s symposium,” said Christine Greer, Chair of the Township’s Seniors Advisory Committee. “Creating a community where older adults feel valued and can enjoy good health, happiness, and fulfillment is at the heart of this symposium.”
How can you register for the 2022 Accessibility and Senior Symposium? Participants can register in three ways:
Please note that priority is given to Township of Tiny residents. Non-residents may register on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.
We are seeking input from the public on accessibility in Tiny. The AccessAbility Survey will be available for the public’s feedback on Monday, May 16, 2022, and will close on Friday, June 3, 2022. Hard copies will be available at the Township of Tiny Municipal Office. The results will be used to help us continue to service those in our community by taking into consideration the perspective and needs of persons with disabilities.
