(Tiny, Ontario) The Township of Tiny is excited to share our new 2025-2030 Age-Friendly Community Plan (“Plan”). This Plan builds on the success of the former 2017 Local Aging Plan and broadens the township’s goals to strengthen inclusion, accessibility, and connection for residents at every stage of life, with a focus on seniors and their wellbeing.

In 2024, the Township of Tiny was designated as an Age-Friendly Community by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The Age-Friendly Community Plan was developed thanks to a $20,000 grant provided by the County of Simcoe’s Age-Friendly Municipal Grant program. Through this grant, the Township of Tiny used J Consulting Group to gather feedback through a public survey and a series of focus groups and interviews with the Senior Advisory Committee, Senior Active Living Centres (SALCs), staff, and Indigenous-serving organizations.

Feedback received through this process praised the township for programming and outdoor spaces, but shows concerns regarding transportation, affordable housing, and access to local healthcare services. Other opportunities include strengthening communication, volunteer engagement, collaboration with SALCs and other partners, and a desire to add more senior social programs and events.

Community feedback helped to incorporate best practices, changing needs, and an updated Plan ensures services, programs, and infrastructure keeps pace with Tiny’s needs. The Plan also uses the WHO Global Age-Friendly Cities and Communities Framework, the Ontario Age-Friendly Planning Guidelines, and the County of Simcoe Positive Aging Strategy (2025–2030) as guides.

“The Age-Friendly Community Plan outlines specific activities that we can work on over the next five years to continue to improve the lives of all Tiny residents. As a recognized Age-Friendly Community we are dedicated to providing services and programs for people of all ages and abilities,” said Mayor David Evans. “This Plan is a refreshed commitment to the Tiny community, and particularly our older adult population, that we will continue to look for opportunities to support aging in place and connection for seniors, while also focusing on accessibility and inclusion.”
