(Tiny, Ontario) The Township of Tiny proudly recognized the contributions of its dedicated volunteers during our Annual Volunteer Appreciation Event, held at the Township of Tiny Community Centre (TTCC) in celebration of National Volunteer Week.
The event brought together Council, staff, and community members to honour the individuals who generously give their time and talents to enhance the quality of life in Tiny. Volunteers play a vital role across the municipality, supporting recreation programs, events, environmental initiatives, and social services helping to foster a strong, connected, and vibrant community.
As part of the celebration, the Township presented two of our annual Volunteer Awards, recognizing individuals whose exceptional service and impact have made a lasting difference in the community.
The Corrie Hamelin Community Volunteer Award was presented to Don and Deanna Woods in recognition of their outstanding leadership and selfless service. As founders and organizers of the Wyevale Santa Claus Parade, they have established a cherished community tradition that has also generated significant support for local food banks. Their long-standing involvement with Wyevale Recreation, including coaching, league coordination, and administration, supports more than 150 youth annually. In addition, their ongoing contributions to community events and advocacy for improved recreational facilities have had a meaningful and lasting impact across the Township.
The Robert Robitaille Memorial Volunteer Award was presented to Elise Robitaille in recognition of her decades of dedicated service and community leadership. As a longstanding resident of Tiny, Elise has made significant contributions to parks and recreation through her leadership roles, including serving as Chair of the Parks and Recreation Committee. Her hands-on involvement in park improvements, community clean-ups, and fundraising efforts has enhanced local spaces and programs. Elise’s volunteerism extends across multiple sectors, including healthcare, education, and community support services, and she is a strong advocate for inclusivity, bilingualism, and community connection.
“Volunteers are the heart of our community,” said Mayor David Evans. “Their dedication, compassion, and willingness to give back help make Tiny a place where people feel connected and supported. We are incredibly grateful for everything they do.”
The Senior of the Year Award will be presented at our Senior Symposium on June 17, 2026.
The Township of Tiny extends its sincere gratitude to all volunteers whose continued efforts shape a healthy, inclusive, and thriving community. Residents are encouraged to get involved and support local initiatives, helping to build on the strong foundation created by volunteers throughout the community.
