Public Notices

The Township of Tiny has delayed the start of the reduced load restrictions (half loads) to begin on March 9, 2026, due to favourable conditions.

As a result, the start of the reduced load restrictions period has been moved from March 1, 2026, to March 9, 2026. Reduced load restrictions will be in effect until April 30, 2026, and may be extended into May at the township’s discretion.

While the reduced load restrictions are in effect, no commercial vehicle or trailer may be operated or drawn upon any road within the Township of Tiny where the weight per axle exceeds 5 tonnes.

In accordance with Township of Tiny By-law 07-031 as amended by By-Law 10-006 and Section 122 of the Highway Traffic Act:

Reason for weight requirements

In the spring, as frost comes out of the ground and moisture comes out of the roadbed:

  • Roads become softer and weaker;
  • Heavy loads on roads can cause it to sink and break apart, which can lead to permanent damage;
  • Half-load restrictions are put in place to protect our roads and roadbeds from being damaged;
  • Reduces the need of having to re-build a road after every spring thaw.
