(Tiny, Ontario) On Tuesday, March 29, 2022, Mayor George Cornell, members of Council, the Culture Alliance in the Heart of Georgian Bay, and the community gathered in Wyevale to unveil the Cultural Alliance Inspirational Peoples Banner and officially present the Inspirational Peoples plaques to John Hartman and the late Robbert Hartog. The Township of Tiny is honoured to display the Inspirational Peoples banner in recognition of the various cultural contributions made by these two members of the community.

This project recognizes and celebrates the contributions of individuals who have made a significant impact in the five communities of the Culture Alliance, Beausoleil First Nation, Town of Midland, Town of Penetanguishene, Township of Tay, and the Township of Tiny. Through a nomination process, two individuals are selected from each member community to be recognized on the Inspirational Peoples Banner.

“The Township is honoured to display the Cultural Alliance Inspirational Peoples banner to recognize these two remarkable individuals,” said Mayor George Cornell. “Congratulations to John Hartman and Robbert Hartog for their cultural contributions to our community.”

“Robbert Hartog was influential in developing recreational and cultural facilities and improved health care programs that offer support, care, and hope. Our communities are better places to live because of these contributions,” said Cindy Hastings, Councillor at the Township of Tiny and Chair of Culture Alliance. “John Hartman has been influential in ensuring the visual arts community in North Simcoe continues to thrive. As Director of the Midland Cultural Centre, he continues to make extensive contributions to his local cultural community and we are fortunate to have him as an ambassador”.
