The Township of Tiny is working with the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) on containment efforts for a potential spill at the north end of Farlain Lake. The Township has also been in communication with the Farlain Lake Association to provide information directly to area residents.
The Township is working closely with the MECP to establish preliminary actions, locate the source of the issue, and monitor water quality assessment.
The exact source and cause of the spill have not been confirmed, and the investigation remains ongoing. The Township will continue to provide support for the MECP to find the root cause and take appropriate action.
For any residents that draw their drinking water directly from the lake, as a precaution, it is recommended to refrain from using the water while the investigation remains underway. The Township’s drinking water fill station at 39 Balm Beach Road can provide a free alternative for affected residents during this time.
The Township will share more information as it becomes available.
