(Tiny, Ontario) The Township of Tiny is proud to launch its 2023 National Volunteer Week campaign, a chance to celebrate our volunteers and their collective impact on the community.
The National Volunteer Week theme for 2023 is Volunteering Weaves Us Together. Through volunteering, we experience our interconnectedness, making our lives more meaningful. By getting involved in various ways, we find friendship, develop trust, and link our relationships. Threading these connections, we come to belong as we contribute towards the same goals.
To honour this year’s National Volunteer Week, Tiny is offering an exciting chance to win an iPad (9th Generation). To participate in the giveaway, you must sign up to become a volunteer through the Township’s new Volunteer Portal by April 29, 2023. This giveaway is an opportunity for current and new volunteers. You can also register by reaching out to the staff member below or in person at the Municipal Office.
With volunteer opportunities spanning many areas, there is truly something for everyone, an opportunity aligning with your interests, skills, and abilities. These include:
- Youth & Senior Services: Counsellor in Training program, Senior Symposium event, Senior Column Writer, technology workshops, etc.
- Special Events: Community BBQ, Mayor’s Charity Golf Tournament, Wyevale Santa Claus Parade Party, Winter Carnaval d’Hiver, Tree Lighting Celebration, etc.
- Environment (Parks & Green Spaces): Invasive species removal, litter pick-up, gardener, dog park monitor, trail monitor, boardwalk & beach conservation, etc.
- Recreation Programs: Soccer coach, pickleball attendant, outdoor ice rink monitor, shuffleboard attendant, etc.
National Volunteer Week is a time to celebrate the contributions of volunteers and promote the value of service. The Township of Tiny is committed to creating a memorable experience that inspires residents to give back. This week is part of a larger effort to promote volunteerism and community involvement throughout the year and provides a great opportunity for everyone to fully participate in the betterment of their community.
