The Township of Tiny has received reports of dead birds washing up on beaches throughout the township. Staff have been in contact with the Canadian Wildlife Health Cooperative (CWHC) and the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit regarding the matter. CWHC has collected bird samples for testing.

If you find dead birds (or fish) on township-owned beaches, please call our Public Works Department to have these picked up and disposed of.

If you find dead birds on your private beach, you can double bag them and place them at the side of the road and call the Public Works Department to pick them up. The CWHC suggests that when handling dead birds, residents wear a mask, gloves, and eye protection to avoid touching them directly. A shovel can also be used to place the dead birds into garbage bags.
