(Tiny, Ontario) The Township of Tiny remains in a Significant Weather Event declaration as per Regulation 239/02 of the Municipal Act. During a Significant Weather Event, all roadways and sidewalks are considered to be in a “state of repair” and may be unsafe to use.
Boil Water Advisories Lifted
- Both of the Boil Water Advisories have been lifted for the following Drinking Water Systems:
- Tee Pee Point and
- a portion of the Lafontaine system (Cedar point Rd - 308 Lafontaine Road West, rue Helene and rue Eric).
- There are no boil water advisories in the township at this time.
- The township thanks residents for their cooperation and understanding regarding this matter.
Township Office
- The Township Office is open, but some services may be unavailable due to staffing shortages. Residents are encouraged to call ahead.
- The tax due date of March 31, 2025, was extended to Friday, April 4, 2025. Penalties will not apply to any payments received by end of day Friday.
- The date to purchase dog tags has been extended to 12:00 p.m. (noon) Friday, April 4, 2025, and non-resident parking permits will open for purchase at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Friday, April 4, 2025.
Temporary Warming Centres
- Wyebridge Community Centre, located at 8340 Highway 93 – the facility will be open today (April 1, 2025) until 11:30 p.m., and will be open tomorrow (April 2, 2025) from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
- Township of Tiny Office, located at 130 Balm Beach Road West – the facility will be open today (April 1, 2025) until 4:30 p.m., and will be open tomorrow (April 2, 2025) from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.. Access to the township’s WIFI is available at this location.
Road Conditions
- Road Closures in Effect:
- Concession 4 West between County Road 6 and Crossland Road
- Wildman Side Road
- Roads may be impacted by downed trees and power lines. If you cannot avoid travel, please drive with care.
- Township staff continue to clear roads, respond to downed trees and address road conditions.
Hydro One
- Power restoration may take several days due the scale of damage. For updates, follow Hydro One, or visit their outage map: https://d8bkcndcv6jca.cloudfront.net/
- For safety, Hydro One urges everyone to stay at least 10 metres away from fallen power lines and report them immediately to 92887 (WATTS) or Hydro One at 1-800-434-1235.
County of Simcoe Waste Management
- County of Simcoe waste collections scheduled for the week of Monday, March 31 to Thursday, April 3rd will continue where possible. If areas are missed due to debris or ongoing road closures on your designated collection day, residents are to leave carts curbside. Collection crews will attempt to collect those locations during the week, up to and including Friday, April 4, 2025. For information on waste collections: click here.
Programs and Meetings
- The Regular Council and Committee of the Whole Meeting that was scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, has been cancelled due to inclement weather, with a new date to be determined.
- A Virtual Special Meeting of Council has been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, to deal with a time sensitive matter regarding Planning and Development Report PD-005-25, Zoning By-law Amendment (Group Home) at it relates to 7959 Highway 93. As per the Township’s Inclement Weather Policy, it has been determined for the safety of the public, the meeting will be held solely virtually. For a virtual Open Deputation, please contact the Clerk’s Department no later than 12 noon tomorrow (April 2, 2025).
- All recreation programs will be cancelled until further notice.
- Summer Day Camp registration is rescheduled to Friday, April 4, 2025, at 12 p.m. (noon).
Fire and Emergency Services
- Tiny Fire and Emergency Services continue to manage a high volume of calls and ask the public to call 9-1-1 only in an emergency to ensure the lines are available to those who need assistance. The ice has caused significant damage, with fallen trees along roads making some roads impassable.
- Reminder to those running generators to operate them outside in a well-ventilated area only. Generators do not belong indoors as they omit carbon monoxide.
- Residents are advised to stay away from downed power lines, or those with trees on them.
- Burning is by a valid 2025 permit only. For more information about burning in Tiny, visit www.tiny.ca/firepermit.
Significant Weather Event
On March 28, 2025, the Township of Tiny declared a Significant Weather Event due to forecasted freezing rain and rainfall amounts that posed a significant danger to roadway users and potential flooding.
This declaration is permitted under the Minimum Maintenance Standards for Municipal Highways under Ontario Regulation 239/02.
Notice will be provided when the Declaration of Significant Weather Event has been removed based on the township’s ability to achieve the requirements under MMS.
