TAKE NOTICE that the Statutory Public Meeting that was scheduled for March 31st, 2025 to consult with the public on municipally initiated Official Plan and Zoning By-law Amendments regarding the management of shoreline areas in the township, including dynamic beaches, was cancelled due to inclement weather. Pursuant to Sections 16, 21, 22 and 34 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, the Township of Tiny has re-scheduled the Statutory Public Meeting to be held on May 6, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 130 Balm Beach Road West, Tiny, Ontario.
An opportunity will also be provided for the public to provide comments on a draft shoreline by-law which is a by-law that is proposed under the Municipal Act and is proposed to apply to shoreline areas in proximity to Georgian Bay.
Please note that any requests for the March 31st virtual zoom meeting link will be carried forward to the May 6th meeting and no further action is required. Zoom links will be sent via email the day of the public meeting. If you do not wish to make a virtual deputation and would like to view the public meeting virtually, the meeting will be livestreamed on the township’s youtube channel as a convenience.
THE PURPOSE of the proposed Official Plan and Zoning By-law Amendments is to manage buildings, structures and uses in proximity to Georgian Bay and the 178 metre G.S.C. elevation to limit potential impacts to human health and safety and the natural environment in accordance with the policies of the Provincial Planning Statement.
THE EFFECT of the amendments is to include in the township planning documents the policies and regulations that regulate development and site alteration in proximity to Georgian Bay and the 178 metre G.S.C. elevation.
AND FURTHER TAKE NOTICE that pursuant to Section 22(6.4) and 34(12) of the Planning Act, the application file is part of the public record and is available to the public for review. A copy of the drafts for review in advance of the meeting are available on the township website Interim Control By-law | Township of Tiny.
AND FURTHER TAKE NOTICE that in accordance with the Planning Act, with respect to the proposed amendments, any person may attend the meeting and make representation or present submissions respecting this matter. Written submissions regarding the amendments can be made to Cathryne Mullowney, Planning Administrative Coordinator via email at cmullowney@tiny.ca or by mail or municipal office drop box at 130 Balm Beach Road West, Tiny, Ontario, L0L 2J0.
If you are unable to make a written submission and wish to make an oral statement during the meeting, please visit tiny.ca/deputations for instructions on how to make a deputation. Council will then use the information collected at this meeting to make a decision on this matter at a future meeting. If you wish to be notified of Council's decision, please forward requests (with forwarding addresses) to Cathryne Mullowney, Planning Administrative Coordinator via email at cmullowney@tiny.ca or by mail or municipal office drop box at 130 Balm Beach Road West, Tiny, Ontario, L0L 2J0. Please note that if you have already requested to be notified of Council’s decision or provided comments on this matter no further action is required as a result of this notice.
Written and oral submissions concerning this application will become part of the public record.
If a person or public body would otherwise have an ability to appeal the decision of The
Township of Tiny to the Ontario Land Tribunal but the person or public body does not make
oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Township of Tiny
before the by-law is passed, or the Official Plan Amendment is adopted, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision. If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting, or make written submissions to the Township of Tiny before the by-law is passed, or the Official Plan Amendment is adopted, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Land Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to do so.
A decision on this proposal will not be made at the Public Meeting. After reviewing the
comments received, township staff will make a recommendation at a future Council meeting.
