The Township of Tiny has received several questions regarding Voter Information Letters.

Residents have reported that they have received Voter Information Letters (VILs) that are not addressed to current property owners or tenants. The Township would like to advise that this is a common occurrence across Ontario as people often do not update their voter registration when they move.

Residents are asked to write “Return to Sender” on this mail that is not addressed to them like they would for any other mail received that does not belong to them and send the letters back through Canada Post at no cost. When VILs are returned to the Township, staff can make updates to the voters’ list.

As a reminder, opening mail that is not addressed to you is illegal. It is also illegal to attempt to use voter credentials that do not belong to you to cast a ballot.
