The Property Standards Committee hears appeals to Orders issued pursuant to the Township's Property Standards By-law. The Committee has the following statutory duties under Sections 15.1 to 15.8 of the Ontario Building Code Act:
- Confirm the Order
- Quash the Order
- Amend the Order
- Extend the deadline for compliance
As legislated under the Line Fences Act, Fence Viewers settle disputes where a property owner desires a new fence on the boundary line or when a property owner wishes to repair an existing fence. The Fence Viewers will examine the premises and make a decision about the fence as to style, location and cost sharing between neighbours.
The Property Standards Committee/Fence Viewers is comprised of five (5) non-elected members and meets as required
