LIFTED: Precautionary Boil Water Advisory Lifted for Lafontaine Drinking Water System

The Boil Water Advisory for the Lafontaine Drinking Water System has been lifted.

There are no boil water advisories in the township at this time.

The township thanks residents for their cooperation and understanding regarding this matter.

During routine sampling, one of several water samples collected in Lafontaine tested positive for bacteria. However, all samples collected prior to treatment tested negative, and adequate chlorination levels were maintained throughout the treatment process to ensure proper disinfection.

While a positive bacteria result can indicate contamination in the water, it is more commonly associated with issues related to sample collection, storage, or laboratory analysis. Each year, we collect several thousand samples and, as a result, a small number of errors in the results can occasionally occur.
