Public Beaches

Recreational use of all public beaches will be permitted, including sitting/laying on the beach, swimming, fishing from shore, paddle boarding, kayaking, etc.

In accordance with Parks By-law 12-032​ (PDF), all beaches are closed from 12:00 a.m. (midnight) to 6:00 a.m.

Users are reminded that personal items/private property cannot be left overnight or stored on municipally-owned property for any reason, including for the purpose of reserving beach space. This includes but is not limited to chairs, watercrafts, barbeques, boat launches/docks/lifts, decks/platforms, fire pits, delineation, umbrellas and tents. These temporary encroachments will be tagged and removed by Municipal Law Enforcement Officers at the owner's expense.

Public washroom facilities located at Balm Beach, Jackson Park, and Woodland Beach are open to the public. Residents are encouraged to follow Provincial and Public Health guidelines, including physical distancing and sanitization.



Porta Potties are located in various locations throughout the Township of Tiny based on the requirements set out in the Placement of Portable Toilets Policy. Please note that the porta potties will not be sanitized on a daily basis and user discretion is advised. Hand washing stations and sanitizer will not be provided. Users should bring and use their own alcohol-based sanitizer.

Garbage receptacles will be provided in the vicinity of the porta potties. Beach users should properly dispose of or 'pack out' any garbage they bring to the beaches.

The times to which the boat ramp is opened/closed each year is weather dependent; however, the Township aims to have the ramp open for the May long weekend and closed for Thanksgiving long weekend in October.

Please note, sand conditions may impede launching and access depending on the size of boat. Check the water level before launching.

​Major Beach Parks such as Balm Beach and Jacksons Beach are tilled as required. Non natural debris or items will be removed by Township Staff if the items pose a safety issue. Beach clean-up and pick-up of debris needs to be coordinated with the Recreation Volunteer Program.

Permanent bathroom facilities located at the Beach Parks are open daily from 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. (times may vary) starting on the May 24 long weekend until Thanksgiving long weekend in October. 

Portable bathrooms are placed at beach locations before the May 24 long weekend and removed by end of September. 

To ensure the natural shoreline environment​ is not tampered with, as per environmental standards, Township staff removes non-natural items that wash up on shore, but leave all natural products such as sticks, weeds and rocks.
