Shoreline By-law
The Township of Tiny’s new shoreline protection and permit process are temporarily on hold due to an appeal of one of the new by-laws.
On May 26, 2025, the Township of Tiny enacted three by-laws to regulate site alteration activities within Tiny’s shoreline through a permit process. The by-laws enacted include:
The Zoning By-law Amendment (By-law 25-039) is being appealed to the Ontario Land Tribunal which means that the previously enacted Interim Control By-law remains in effect until the appeal process is complete. This means that new structures, fences, boathouses, retaining walls, patios, decks, landscaping and site alteration in proximity to the 178-metre contour elevation of the Georgian Bay Shoreline continues to be prohibited at this time.
During the appeal process, the Township is unable to process permits for work within proximity to the 178-metre contour elevation of the Georgian Bay Shoreline, as intended through the enactment of the Shoreline By-law.
To inquire about conducting work on the shoreline, please contact the Planning Department at interimcontrol@tiny.ca prior to starting.
If you have witnessed a violation of the Interim Control By-law and wish to file a complaint, please contact the Municipal Law Enforcement Department at 705-526-4204.
