Township of Tiny asks community to “Prepare” with launch of emergency preparedness resource

(Tiny, Ontario) The Township of Tiny has launched an emergency preparedness resource on the township’s website called “Prepare” to help residents prepare for any emergency situation. 

The website resource will become a permanent fixture of the township website, and provides critical information about topics including:

Stay Informed

• Find information about where to look for updates during an emergency

72-hour Emergency Kit

• Learn about what to pack in your 72-hour emergency kit, tips on how to build an emergency kit on a budget, being prepared on the go with a vehicle emergency kit checklist, and having a plan for your furry friends with a pet emergency kit checklist. All of the checklists are available to print so you can check off the items as you collect them.

Types of Hazards

• There are various types of hazards in Tiny that you should be prepared for. We have tips on what to do before, during, and after several hazards such as extreme heat, flooding, forest fires, power outages and blackouts, tornado, thunderstorms, and winter storms. 

Fire Escape Plan

• Learn how to create a fire escape plan, download our template to draw your floor plan and have two escape routes from each room. 

“In light of the recent ice storm, we hope that being prepared is top of mind for residents, and we’re excited to be able to share what we’ve been working on behind the scenes,” said Fire Chief Dave Flewelling. “With Emergency Preparedness Week coming up in May, we hope residents will utilize this resource and plan for every season.” 

“Tiny’s Prepare portal is filled with a wealth of information about how to keep you and your family safe and connects readers to a wide array of resources from having an emergency kit that will last at least 72-hours to knowing what to do during a flood,” said Mayor David Evans.
