Voter Information

Voter Eligibility 

To be eligible to vote, you must meet the qualifications of electors as listed in the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, s.17(2).  

A person is entitled to be an elector in the Township of Tiny, on voting day, if they meet all of the following conditions:

  • A Canadian citizen;
  • At least 18 years old;
  • A resident, owner or tenant of land in the Township of Tiny, or the spouse of such tenant or owner;
  • Not prohibited from voting under any law.

You may only vote once in the Township of Tiny Municipal Election regardless of how many properties you own or rent within the Township.

 

Confirm you're on the Voters List

New for 2026, Elections Ontario (opens in new window) is providing the voters list for municipalities. You can check, update, or add your information to the voters list for the Municipal and School Board Election by visiting

RegisterToVoteON.ca. The Voters’ List is a record of individuals eligible to vote (opens in new window)  in provincial and local municipal elections in Ontario.

You can use Elections Ontario’s Voter Registration application (opens in new window) to confirm, update, or add your information if you:

  • have changed your name or address
  • own or rent a new property
  • no longer own or rent a property
  • want to remove your information

If you or your spouse own or rent property other than your home address in Ontario, you may be eligible to vote in more than one municipal election.

  • removing yourself from the register
  • removing a deceased person from the register
  • adding yourself to the list of future voters (if you’re under 18 years of age)

     

    Secondary Property 

    If your name does not appear on the Voters’ List in the Township of Tiny and the property is a secondary residence (meaning it is not your principal residence, and not a second property within the Township of Tiny), please consult pages 5–6 of the "How to maintain your information in the Register" instruction sheet for direction on confirming and updating your voter information.

Register of Future Voters

The Ontario Register of Future Voters is designed for eligible 16 and 17-year-olds so that they will automatically be added to the Register when they turn 18. Visit RegisterToVoteON.ca (opens in new window) to learn about eligibility, ID requirements, and how to register as a future voter.

Updating Your School Support

As of January 1, 2024, the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) is no longer responsible for collecting voter information for local elections however continues to maintain electors school support information. You can 

update your school support designation  through MPAC’s Online School Support Tool (opens in new window).

As a property owner in Ontario, you are required to support a school system, even if you do not have children or your children are not currently attending school. This information can be found on your Property Assessment Notice.

How to Cast your Votes

Voting for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Elections will occur by internet and telephone. This allows the Township to offer voters an extended voting period and the flexibility to participate in the election process at their convenience, without the need to attend a physical polling location. Voting online or by telephone is a fast, convenient, and secure way to vote, which has been previously used successfully by many municipalities.

 

Election Help Centre

An Election Help Centre will be located in the Township of Tiny Council Chambers for approximately two weeks prior to Voting Day. Electors requiring assistance will be welcome to come to the Election Help Centre to get help in person.
