A fire ban is in effect for the Township of Tiny, effective Thursday, July 16, at 12:00 p.m. (noon).
The fire ban is due to the extreme temperatures and lack of any significant precipitation, as well as poor air quality conditions due to smoke drifting into the region from northwestern wildfires. All open-air burning is prohibited, and fire permits are suspended.
The fire ban will remain in effect regardless of any precipitation until air quality conditions can be evaluated.
The fire hazard rating has been raised to extreme. An extreme danger rating means extremely dry forest fuel and ground vegetation. The fire risk is very serious. New fires will start easily, spread rapidly, and challenge fire suppression efforts.
Tiny’s Municipal Law Enforcement Officers will be monitoring for compliance. Instances of non-compliance can be reported to the Municipal Law Enforcement Department at 705-526-4204. Non-compliance may result in the issuance of a warning or a charge.
Notice will be issued when the fire ban is lifted.
