The Recreation Department is committed to improving the quality of life and well-being of the Township of Tiny citizens through recreation. It provides optimum access to a wide variety of recreation pursuits to meet the needs of all residents. The Recreation Department in partnership with Parks and dynamic volunteer groups and organizations work together to provide parks, recreation and leisure time facilities, programs and services that strengthen, support and maintain a healthy family of communities.
The Recreation Department is currently comprised of three (3) Full Time Permanent Staff: Director of Recreation, Community Recreation Leader, Community Engagement Leader and approximately 200 volunteers. During the summer, the Department recruits students to assist in delivering summer programming: camps, soccer, swimming and the mobile skate park.

Responsible for the direction, management, development and coordination of recreation services for the Township of Tiny. The Director formulates and presents goals and objectives, recommends and administers policies and procedures, proposes and realizes specials events, programs, and community projects and represents the Department in all matters. The Director of Recreation builds and leads a high performing and collaborative team that develops strong relationships in the community, providing programming and services to all demographics.

Responsible for the delivery of recreation, leisure, and sport programs and activities for the Township of Tiny in order to provide opportunities and encourage and promote a healthy lifestyle and quality of life for all community residents.
Community Engagement Leader

Responsible for the facilitation of partnerships encompassing community organizations, beach and parks associations, service clubs, cultural groups, recreational stakeholders, sports groups, volunteers, residents, developers and businesses. Using the Township's Volunteer Management Program, the Community Engagement Leader encourages and guides community stewardship and participation as well as being the single point of contact for the Department to assist with all community driven initiatives. The Community Engagement Leader is responsible for the delivery of departmental and corporate special events and festivals. The Community Engagement Leader also secures funding through grants and sponsorship opportunities.
Volunteers are Tiny's most important resource. Over 250 engaged and devoted volunteers are registered with the Township of Tiny and come from all walks of life. 'Tiny' Volunteers have a real impact; they lead municipal initiatives; they plan events; they run recreation activities and oversee neighbourhood safety programs; they advise Council on key issues in the community. Volunteers improve and maintain the quality of life in the Township of Tiny and allow everyone to have a say in shaping Tiny.
2017 Recreation Master Plan
The Township of Tiny is undertaking a Recreation Master Plan Study that will enhance the traditional parks and recreation master plan process by integrating the concept of healthy, active living with long term planning recommendations and strategies. The Plan will integrate the direction contained in other Township planning documents; identify the needs of Township residents; propose recommendations for innovative program, service and facility delivery and; provide the strategic direction for integrating healthy active living choices in planning and the decision making processes.
