Township Event

The Township of Tiny is excited to host outdoor family movie nights again this summer season. The series of seven family-friendly movies will be shown weekly throughout July and August at parks and greenspaces throughout the community.

Movies will begin at dusk (approximately 9:00pm) with seating starting at 8:30pm. All movies are free of charge and registration is not required. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own snacks, chairs and blankets. In the event of inclement weather, movies may be rescheduled or cancelled.

Two men named Charlie Hinton and Phil Ryerson lose their jobs in product development at a large food company and are forced to take their sons out of the exclusive Chapman Academy and become stay-at-home fathers. With no job possibilities on the horizon, they open their own day care center, call it "Daddy Day Care", and employ some fairly unconventional and sidesplitting methods of caring for children.

With his theatrical company a local success, Buster Moon is dreaming of bigger things. Unfortunately, when a talent scout dismisses their work as inadequate for the big time, Buster is driven to prove her wrong. With that goal in mind, Buster inspires his players to gamble everything to sneak into a talent audition in Redshore City for the demanding entertainment mogul Jimmy Crystal.

Moana Waialiki is a sea voyaging enthusiast and the only daughter of a chief in a long line of navigators. When her island's fishermen can't catch any fish and the crops fail, she learns that the demigod Maui caused the blight by stealing the heart of the goddess, Te Fiti. The only way to heal the island is to persuade Maui to return Te Fiti's heart, so Moana sets off on an epic journey across the Pacific. The film is based on stories from Polynesian mythology.

14-year-old Ella is determined to travel the length of the Inside Passage, along the shores of the Great Bear Rainforest by kayak in order to testify against a proposed pipeline that would see oil tanker traffic through her beloved homeland waters. She's prepared to handle all of the challenges the wildlife, the weather, the water, and her gear have to offer up. The most challenging of all is that she has to bring her dysfunctional family with her.

François Les Lunettes et Zac, le nouveau du village, s'affrontent dans la traditionnelle course de luges. Quand François perd lamentablement à la suite d'une défectuosité de son super bolide, il est convaincu que son adversaire a triché et est déterminé à le prouver. Lorsqu'il parvient à ses fins, Zac accepte de l'affronter à nouveau, mais à une condition : s'il gagne, il deviendra propriétaire de la grange. Zac, sans scrupule, convainc sa cousine Charlie de l'aider à espionner le camp adverse afin de lui donner des munitions pour mieux écraser son opposant.

The Township of Tiny 2023 Budget Survey is available for Township of Tiny residents to complete. The survey seeks input from residents to help identify key priorities for Council and Staff consideration during the 2023 Budget deliberations.

Among the various visual elements illustrating Indigenous cultures, the sun (the summer solstice) is at the centre which is at the heart of the festivities. The First Nations, Inuit and Métis, as well as the four elements of nature (earth, water, fire and air), are represented in the image and shown opposite. The whole visual is supported by a multicoloured smoke*, reminding us of Indigenous spirituality but also of the colours of the rainbow - a symbol of inclusion and the diversity of all First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities and their members.
