Nature Connect: Outdoor Adventures for Seniors - Coming this Fall!
The Township of Tiny is proud to announce Nature Connect: Outdoor Adventures for Seniors, funded through a $22,000 grant from the Government of Ontario.
As part of our commitment to active aging and outdoor recreation, we’re launching a new four-part program designed to connect older adults with nature, physical activity, and community. Program highlights will include:
- Free guided outdoor excursions such as hiking, canoeing, kayaking, forest therapy walks, wild edibles foraging, and snowshoeing
- An 8-week slow sensory walking program in Tiny
- Access to specialized walking equipment, including urban poles and snowshoes, available for community use through our Sport Loaner Program
- The creation of a senior walking group, with opportunities for volunteer leadership and certification training
Registration for all Nature Connect Programs opens August 25th at 12:00pm. Visit tiny.ca/playportal to register or contact recreation@tiny.ca to sign up!
We're currently seeking four enthusiastic volunteers to become Nature Connect Ambassadors! Volunteers will support outdoor excursions and programs and work with Township staff to create an inclusive community walking group. Previous experience supporting group activities or outdoor programs is an asset but not required. To learn more or to volunteer, visit tiny.ca/volunteer or contact seniors@tiny.ca.

Interested in volunteering?
As a volunteer, you'll support participants in this relaxed and friendly atmosphere where they can comfortably explore phones, tablets, and computers. Your guidance will help others build confidence, learn new skills, and navigate the internet with ease. Android users are especially in demand, so if you're an Android pro, your expertise will be greatly appreciated! Contact recreation@tiny.ca for more information.
Ducks in a Row Program
Many seniors do not have a comprehensive, pragmatic repository of all the information they, their loved ones, and caregivers will need as they face the challenges of advanced aging. Through a series of facilitated workshops supported by high quality videos/materials our Ducks in a Row program will enable attendees to find and capture the pertinent personal information they need. The information gathered will be captured into a simple, practical workbook format which you personally own and maintain. Our Ducks in a Row program will provide you and your loved ones peace by having all your ducks in a row.
